Thinking of the Eastern Sierra

As the days pass, I can’t help but think about our up coming vacation to the Eastern Sierra. This will be our longest visit to one of our favorite places!  My wife and me, along with our 2 little Cairn Terriers will be spending a month in God’s Country!

Being such a big trip, there’s a lot to do and now’s the time get started!  It may be premature, but I washed and waxed the motorhome (most of it anyway).  We started adding a few extras to our grocery list.  And I picked up a couple of extras to start tying some flys for fly fishing.

Oh, and I have to go through my camera gear and get that ready too!  My plans include many early morning photo opportunities!  There are so many places to go and I don’t have to worry about time!

Which cameras and gear am I going to take?  Everything of course!!  I’m going to bring my Canon 40D, 60D, Sony NEX3, and my GoPro HD.  In addition to that, I’m bringing every lens I own, and 3 tripods.  Oh, one more thing, my 8 inch telescope!  It may not be a camera, but I’ll have access to a night sky so amazing, so full of stars, that if I forgot and left it at home, I’d drive all the way back just to pick it up!

That’s about it for this post.  It’s been a busy day and I’m tired.  But my mind keeps drifting off, filled with images of the Eastern Sierra.  John Muir put it into words far more eloquently then I ever could, so I’ll leave you with one of his quotes and my photo:

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.  Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.  The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”

Until next time, Happy Shooting!
